Garbiñe Muguruza walks out at her premiere in San Diego

MADRID, 12 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish-Venezuelan tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza said goodbye this Tuesday to her career in the tournament in San Diego (United States), scoring for the WTA and which is played on a hard court, after having to abandon her match against the Chinese Qinwen Zheng.

The player from Caracas had to leave the court when she was already losing to the Asian, a rival who had entered the draw as a 'lucky loser', for a clear 5-0 due to a gastrointestinal problem, according to the WTA.

This abandonment is another bad news for the double winner of 'Grand Slam' in a 2022 season that is being fateful for her and where she has not yet been able to reach any final round in the tournaments in which she has competed and after having signed in 2021 one of her best years, also crowning herself 'teacher', a condition that she will not be able to defend.
