MADRID, 27 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, welcomed this Tuesday the tax reduction announced by the Valencian Government of Ximo Puig because, in her opinion, it is on the "right path" and has indicated that this step confirms that there is a "rebellion within the Socialist Party. Moreover, she has assured that "sanchismo" is a movement within the PSOE that "is beginning to show clear signs of weakness."

This has been pronounced after the 'president' of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, has advanced this Tuesday some of the measures that the Valencian tax reform will include, which will take effect "from now" and retroactively from January 1, 2022 and will benefit all citizens who earn less than 60,000 euros a year, "the majority of society".

At a press conference in Congress, after the meeting of the Board of Spokespersons, the PP spokesperson also welcomed the fact that Puig has made this decision that is "on the right path, following the initiative of the PP in the fiscal area that it has to do with deflating personal income tax".

In this sense, he stressed that they are seeing how "day by day" there are "more barons who are joining initiatives of these characteristics". "And we call for this to also be approved in general for all Spaniards in all those sections that are the autonomous sections," he demanded.

Gamarra has pointed out that the PP proposes to deflate the personal income tax rate up to income of 40,000 euros, but Puig "plates it for income of less than 60,000 euros." "What problem is there? That the Government is going to collect less? If that stays in the pocket of the Spaniards, it is welcome so that the Spaniards can make ends meet," he said.

The 'number two' of the PP has stressed that it cannot be said that "it is regressive if it is promoted by the PP but that it is fine if it is raised by the PSOE". In his opinion, this shows that the PSOE "does not have a coherent fiscal policy" and "in the end, after disqualifying the PP's proposals and insulting him, he ends up approving them for the benefit of the Spanish."

Gamarra has encouraged the PSOE not to "waste time" in "denial and then insult", so that those initiatives that are "good" start them so that all Spaniards can take advantage of them.

At this point, the leader of the PP has recalled that the PSOE rejected in Parliament its proposal to deflate the personal income tax rate and now it is going to "raise in the Valencian Community", with Compromís saying that "it is very good".

"We are without a doubt in a rebellion. A rebellion in the ranks of the PSOE, where we see that they are also beginning to join an appropriate policy of lowering taxes so that Spaniards can make ends meet," he said, adding that what is clear is that the socialists are "falling into a lot of contradiction" and their spokesmen should make Sánchez see that this is the way forward.

At this point, he has defended the proposal launched by Alberto Núñez Feijóo to reduce VAT on basic products in the shopping basket from 10% to 4%, such as meat, fish, oils or pasta. In his opinion, it is an "absolutely sensible" measure so that many families can have "more availability and make ends meet a little better."

According to the spokeswoman for the Popular Group, the Socialists tend to "demonize" the PP's proposals and "insult" the PP leader but then approve his measures. As she has said, the "attack" that the Government is now making to its lowering of VAT on food is the same one that they heard with the lowering of VAT on electricity and gas that they later ended up approving.

When asked what she attributes Puig's behavior to and if she thinks he is part of a strategy to flee from Pedro Sánchez in the face of the drop in the polls, Gamarra pointed out that "sanchismo is a movement that worships the leader but in the end it does that the Spaniards are worse".

"It is a movement within the PSOE that is beginning to show clear signs of weakness because you cannot ask people to legislate against people when people are having such a bad time," he stressed.
