Four dead in a new massacre in Colombia

MADRID, 2 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

At least four people have died in Ocaña, in the Colombian department of Norte de Santander, in what could be a confrontation between the Los Pelusos gang and FARC or ELN guerrillas.

The incident has occurred specifically in a sector known as San Luis, in the district of La Ermita. The people were killed by gunshots. The authorities have opened an investigation, according to the RCN chain.

On the other hand, the Institute of Studies for Peace, Indepaz, has denounced the murder of a social leader in Villagarzón, in the department of Putumayo, in southern Colombia.

The victim is Clemencia Arteaga, who worked as a prosecutor for the Community Action Board of the Santa Rosa de Juanambú village. With this, there are already 132 social leaders assassinated so far this year in Colombia, according to Indepaz, while there are 1,359 deaths since the signing of the Peace Accords.

"This leader was murdered in the sector of the Nada Santa Rosa de Juanambú reservation, around 9:00 p.m. by armed men who came to her home and attacked her with a firearm," Indepaz reported through its Twitter account.

Indepaz puts the number of massacres perpetrated so far this year in the country at 81, not counting the last four dead in Norte de Santander.
