Five parties present amendments in the Senate to force the Government to lower VAT on hairdressers

MADRID, 8 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Popular Party, Junts, Teruel Existe, Ciudadanos and Compromís have once again brought to the Senate, through partial amendments to the General State Budget (PGE) of 2023, the demand of hairdressing and beauty professionals to apply a VAT reduction to the sector.

According to these amendments presented this week in the Senate, to which Europa Press has had access, in the case of the PP, Teruel Exists, Ciudadanos and Compromís, demand that the VAT drop be 10%, while Junts requests a super-reduced VAT , 4% for this sector.

Last year, the Senate already approved an amendment to the Anti-Fraud Law to lower VAT on hairdressers to 10%, which the Socialists voted against.

However, the then president of the Chamber and now Minister of Justice, Pilar Llop, resolved a controversial request from the Government and decided to annul the vote, alleging that this measure affected the 2021 Budgets.

Already in the amendments for the 2022 Budgets, several groups also tried to include this demand of the sector, but in the end it did not go ahead, despite the fact that months before the Senate approved a motion presented to urge the Government to include the VAT reduction in the PGE to 10% for this sector, with the support of ERC, PNV and other government partners.
