Feijóo launches to snatch the flag of feminism from the PSOE this 8M in the middle of the 'Mediator case' and the Law of yes is yes

'Genoa' considers that the Government "has left the flag of feminism on the ground" and the PP has room to grow there

MADRID, 5 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has launched to snatch the flag of feminism from the PSOE this March 8, International Women's Day, a date that, according to the 'popular', the chief executive, Pedro Sánchez, faces with difficulty due to the more than 700 reductions in sentences for sexual offenders with the "only yes is yes" law and the plot of the so-called "Mediator case" in which "drugs, prostitutes and corruption" are mixed, as they have indicated to Europa Press sources of the leadership of the PP.

"The Government of Spain has left the flag of feminism on the ground. It has left it for whoever takes it", they consider in 'Génova', where they are convinced that they have room to grow among that traditional feminist voter of the PSOE who also feels disappointed at this time after the approval of regulations such as the Trans Law, according to the same sources.

With this objective, the PP will have its "own agenda" on the occasion of March 8. For now, this Monday there will be an act in Cáceres de Feijóo with the president of the PP from Extremadura, María Guardiola, and other party candidates for the elections on May 28. This same Sunday another similar one has been programmed by the general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, with the PP candidates in the three provinces of Aragon.

The PP is convinced that it can capture a good part of that moderate female vote that is dissatisfied with some steps taken by Pedro Sánchez, who they blame for assuming the postulates of Podemos and distancing himself from the more traditional position of the PSOE. According to the demoscopic data that they handle in Genoa, the PP has already wrested some 800,000 voters from the PSOE, but they aspire to reach one million and grow among the female electorate of the center.

Feijóo has already taken some steps to attract that vote, such as his support for the law of deadlines that the Government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero approved and that the PP appealed to the Constitutional Court 13 years ago. In his understanding, abortion is a woman's right under current law but not a "fundamental right," a position that has drawn criticism from the more conservative wing of his party.

In the Trans Law, the PP has also connected with classic feminists close to the PSOE in the processing of the Trans Law and, in fact, organized a conference in December in Congress in which it invited associations critical of that norm, which this week has entered into force and that Feijóo has promised to repeal if he reaches the Moncloa Palace.

In full parliamentary processing of the law, Feijóo already held a meeting on October 6 with the Alliance Against the Erasure of Women, one of the feminist organizations contrary to the Trans Law promoted by the Ministry of Equality. At that meeting, they agreed to request the withdrawal of this rule, considering it a "regression for women" and a "lack of protection for minors", according to the 'popular'.

In 'Genoa' they consider that one of the main elements of wear and tear on the Government at this time is the 'yes is yes' law, after more than 700 reductions in sentences for sexual offenders and rapists, as well as more than 70 releases. The Socialist Group has presented a reform to modify this rule, which will be voted on Tuesday in plenary session of Congress, and the 'popular' have already anticipated their willingness to support it given the need to correct this legal "botch" as soon as possible.

However, in Feijóo's team they consider that one of the main points of weakness of the Government at this moment is in the so-called 'Meditor case', of which the former socialist deputy from the Canary Islands Juan Bernardo Fuentes Curbelo was the leader, and who has uncovered a plot of alleged commissions from businessmen in exchange for favors and influence in which "drugs, prostitution and bites" are mixed.

The leadership of the PP has already warned that this case can take its toll on the PSOE if it does not give explanations as soon as possible. The general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo, already warned the PSOE this Thursday that "this issue can be brought before him", in line with the statements a few days before by the Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, who has predicted that "tito Berni is going to bring down this government."

The PP has launched the attack against the PSOE before the 8M. Faced with the news that is becoming known about the so-called 'Mediator case', Bendodo has come to affirm that the PSOE has a "pale role" with this plot and that the socialist leaders should drop their "face of shame" for attending the demonstrations of 8M.

And the spokesman for the PP campaign committee, Borja Sémper, has asked that the "anger" of feminism and society "do not translate into aggressiveness" against the PSOE in the demonstrations on March 8 in the face of the "shameful" position of the Government with the 'only yes is yes' law and the approval of the Trans Law.

The leadership of the PP has confirmed that officials from the leadership of the PP will attend the 8M demonstrations, but it has not specified who will go and if they will be in the territories or will attend those in Madrid.

In the capital there are two large demonstrations: that of the 8M Commission that seeks, according to its organizers, "to continue defending the rights of all"; and that of the Feminist Movement of Madrid, in which the resignation of the Minister of Equality will be requested due to her "terrible management" and the disapproval of the President of the Government for keeping Irene Montero in her position.

Last Friday, in an act in Mos (Pontevedra), Feijóo censured that those who have approved the 'yes is yes' law are giving "lessons in feminism." "We do not know if it is more serious that they do not agree to reform the law or to delay its inevitable reform to coincide with 8M," he proclaimed.

Moreover, she addressed the women present at the rally to affirm: "I am surprised how some dare to try to direct your lives, say what is right or wrong, or tell you that voting for the PP is voting for a non-feminist party" .
