Feijóo disfigures Sánchez's "arrogance" after the conviction of Griñán: "It is as if they had sentenced Aznar and Rajoy to prison"

He sees the Supreme Court's ruling as "enormously politically relevant" and says that the PP was kicked out of the Government "for two lines" in the Gürtel sentence

SANTIAGO, 21 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has criticized the chief executive, Pedro Sánchez, and the PSOE for reacting with "arrogance" after the Supreme Court's conviction of former socialist presidents José Antonio Griñán and Manuel Chaves for the case of the ERE when that ruling is of "huge political relevance".

"This is as if Aznar and Rajoy had been sentenced to disqualification or to prison. It is undoubtedly an act of enormous political relevance," Feijóo declared in an interview with Europa Press in Santiago de Compostela, coinciding with the start of the new academic year. political.

The head of the opposition has criticized Pedro Sánchez's statements at the end of July, as soon as he learned of the ruling, assuring that "just pay for sinners." "And who are the sinners who have not paid?" Feijóo asked himself, who considers that "when that sentence" of the Supreme Court is produced, "the reaction of the PSOE has been one of absolutely inappropriate arrogance" with that type of statement .

As for whether he believes that the Government is preparing to pardon Griñán and believes that this measure of grace is being adulterated, Feijóo has stressed that in this case there is a conviction for Griñán and Chaves by the Provincial Court of Seville and by the Supreme Court " for embezzlement of public funds, with different intensities".

"One with disqualification and another with disqualification plus a six-year prison sentence. And additionally, there are more than a dozen high-ranking officials, including PSOE advisers, who have also been sentenced, in some cases to prison and others to disqualification," he stressed.

In his opinion, the sentence of the ERE is the "most important from the political point of view, with the greatest number of affected" that they have known" and that extends to "more than a decade of the Socialist Party".

Feijóo has reiterated that he has "no interest" in seeing a former PSOE president, former minister and former president of the Andalusian Government in jail. "I assure you that I have no interest in it. Neither political and much less personal", he has abounded.

Of course, he has said that he is "surprised that no one" from the Government has contacted his training to "assess this situation." "And I am surprised that they continue to insist that the PP is a party of thugs. It is really impossible, if the government does not want to, to be able to hold a calm conversation on this type of issue," he added.

In this sense, he has insisted that the Government has not "commented anything directly or indirectly" on this possible pardon with the PP. "I deeply regret the situation in which Mr. Griñán's family is, I assure you," he added.

Feijóo has admitted that his party has been "ashamed of certain attitudes of people who have been active in the PP and have even held positions." "We have been kicked out of the Government for two lines in a sentence, which in the end it was clearly seen that there was an intention and that was annulled by the Supreme Court", he stated, referring to the ruling of the National High Court on the 'Gürtel' case that provoked a motion of censure against Mariano Rajoy.

In this case, the leader of the PP has highlighted that they are talking about "a sentence confirmed" by the Supreme Court. "But I reiterate, I have no interest in seeing José Antonio Griñán in jail. What I can assure you is that the level of arrogance of the socialist government in relation to this situation is an aggravating factor in Mr. Griñán's situation. It is a political aggravation", he concluded.

On July 26, the Supreme Court confirmed the conviction of Chaves and Griñán, both former presidents of the Andalusian Government, for the irregular use of regional subsidies for Employment Regulation Files (ERE). The first received 9 years of disqualification for prevarication, while the second was sentenced to 6 years in prison for prevarication and embezzlement, which places him one step away from entering prison.

This week, the government spokeswoman, Isabel Rodríguez, has referred to the possibility that Griñán's family may request his pardon, assuring that in the event that this request were submitted to the Executive, it would be studied "rigorously", as is done in all cases.
