FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente wins a waste collection contract in the US for 63 million euros

MADRID, 1 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente, through its US subsidiary FCC Environmental Services, has been awarded a contract for the collection of urban solid waste in zone 1 of Lake County, Florida (United States), with a revenue portfolio of 63 million euros for the next five years, with an option to extend for another three years.

The awarded area includes approximately 24,000 homes and 75,000 residents, for whom the company will collect the remaining, recyclable, bulky, and pruning and garden fractions on a weekly basis, as reported in a statement.

The contract entails an investment of 12 million dollars (12 million euros), including the acquisition of a fleet of 20 collection trucks, while 29 new jobs will be created.

Lake County has 395,000 residents and is located northwest of the city of Orlando, with its capital in the city of Tavares. FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente already has a significant presence in Florida, where it already serves nearly two million people.

With this, FCC Environmental Services reaches a figure close to 2,200 million dollars in portfolio signed in this year 2022 alone, which places it as one of the main operators of comprehensive urban solid waste management in the United States, both in terms of business volume as population size, since it serves more than 9 million Americans in five states of the country: California, Texas, Florida, Nebraska and Iowa.

Among the most recent awards in the country are the urban solid waste collection contracts for the cities of Port Saint Lucie and Palm Coast, both in Florida, for 625 million dollars, and the renovation and operation of a complex environmental project for waste treatment in Placer County (California) for 1,500 million dollars.

FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente is the FCC Group company that has been providing municipal services and comprehensive waste management for more than 120 years, serving 60 million people in nearly 5,200 municipalities around the world.

In Spain, it recently renewed the contracts for waste collection and street cleaning in Barcelona, Vigo and Zaragoza, and for street cleaning and maintenance of parks and gardens in Madrid, which represent a portfolio of close to 2,500 million euros.
