MADRID, 23 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente, through its US subsidiary FCC Environmental Services, has been awarded the contract for the residential collection of solid urban waste from the city of Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

The contract, which will begin on September 5, represents a portfolio of up to 450 million dollars (425 million euros) for a period of seven years and a possible extension of three more years, as reported by the company in a statement. .

The service will serve 82,000 homes and 1,300 commercial customers for the collection of recyclable, bulky, pruning and garden waste and the rest fraction --remaining waste--, with a fleet of 75 trucks.

The investment of the contract will be 47 million dollars (44.4 million euros) and will create 110 jobs. Port Saint Lucie is the seventh most populous city in Florida, with 220,000 inhabitants, and one of the fastest growing in the state, located two hours north of Miami.

FCC Servicios Medio Ambiente already serves more than one and a half million inhabitants in Florida and more than 9 million in the entire North American region: California, Texas, Florida, Nebraska and also in Iowa, accumulating a portfolio of signed contracts of nearly 5,000 million dollars (about 4,700 million euros).

Among the company's most recent projects is the award of the contract for the renovation and operation of an environmental waste treatment complex in Placer County (California) for 1,500 million dollars (around 1,400 million euros).
