Facua asks the Government for a campaign to promote the reduction of power in electricity contracts

MADRID, 25 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Facua-Consumers in Action has sent a letter to the Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera, in which she urges the Government to carry out a campaign to promote the reduction of power in electricity contracts.

In the letter, the organization has shown its position and has suggested a battery of ideas and proposals to be considered in the contingency plan for energy efficiency and savings on which the Government is currently working.

"Facua defends an energy model based on decarbonization, renewable energy, energy democratization, planning, citizen participation and the non-exclusion or guarantee of access to essential energy services and supplies for domestic consumers," it says.

Among the suggestions, Facua proposes the development of institutional campaigns that involve the different public administrations, consumer organizations and electricity companies, through which consumers are informed what the contracted power is, when to lower it and how much can be saved with This, in addition to recovering the management free of charge for lowering the contracted power, a measure that was in force until last May 31.

According to the latest survey by the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC), up to 78% of Spanish households have more contracted electrical power than they need.

On the other hand, he considers that the executive should be able to intervene in prices and put limits on the price of electricity that consumers pay, acting against rate abuses, creating a public energy company and recovering for the State the concessions of hydroelectric plants that expire.
