Experts advise using European funds to regenerate homes and prevent them from being left out of the market

MADRID, 7 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Experts from the real estate sector advise taking advantage of European funds to regenerate and rehabilitate homes and prevent those with low energy efficiency from being left out of the rental or sale market in the coming years, as they have exposed this Thursday in the round table "The opportunity of the next generation funds for the regeneration of housing", organized by the Association of Homeowners for Rent (Asval) and moderated by its general director, María Andreu.

The Deputy Minister of Housing and Territory Planning of the Community of Madrid, José María García, has stressed that "there will not be another occasion" in which direct subsidies for these conservation and accessibility works coincide with a "very powerful business sector and a financial sector that looks very favorably on helping communities of owners".

García has also explained that "with a relatively small effort on the part of owners and neighborhood communities, the return is very large". The deputy minister has also commented that the Community of Madrid has already received applications worth 23 million euros out of the 58 million available.

For his part, the executive director of Aliseda Inmobiliaria and Anticipa Real Estate, Eduard Mendiluce, has lamented that there is "deep ignorance" about these funds and has asked the administrations to develop "a powerful communication plan" so that the owners know the advantages of these aids. In addition, Mendiluce has stressed that there is "a great demand" to undertake these rehabilitations.

The president of the Association of Real Estate Developers of Madrid (Asprima), Carolina Roca, has agreed on the need for administrations to become more involved and has urged the private sector to speed up the talks.

"In order for this activity to scale and remain a stable segment over time, the involvement of the promoter sector is essential", he pointed out.
