ERC leaves the chamber after assuring Vox that Puig Antich was convicted of "killing a policeman", not an anarchist

MADRID, July 14. (EUROPA PRES) -

The ERC deputies who were present in the chamber of Congress during the debate on the Democratic Memory Law have left the Plenary Hall after the Vox deputy Francisco José Contreras assured from the rostrum that Salvador Puig Antich was not sentenced to death for being an "anarchist", but for "killing a policeman".

During his speech, Contreras pointed out that the young Catalan, executed by garrote on March 2, 1974, was not convicted "for being an anarchist, but for having killed a policeman." He has pointed out that his name was Francisco Anguas and that he was 24 years old.

The deputy spokesperson for the ERC, Carolina Telechea, who had precisely read Antich's writings during her speech in the same debate, has interpreted the words of the Vox deputy as a "justification for the murder" of the young anti-Francoist. "That is a crime, it is an apology for Francoism," she added.

"We are not going to share space with the heirs of the Franco regime," Telechea proclaimed, already in the corridor, after leaving the hemicycle with his colleagues.
