The board of directors of the supermarket chain Dia has approved separating the positions of president and global CEO (first executive) of the group, so that Stephan DuCharme leaves his position as CEO of the company and will continue as proprietary director and non-executive president. executive of the board of directors. Martín Tolcachir, until now CEO of Dia Argentina, will be the new CEO of the group.

As reported by the company to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) on Tuesday, Tolcachir will assume the group's strategy at a global level and will lead the execution of the acceleration strategy towards growth in all the countries in which Dia operates.

The new CEO will work together with Stephan DuCharme, who after concluding the redirection phase of the company, "will continue to be closely linked to Dia" and will continue with his functions as non-executive chairman of the board of directors.

"By separating the functions of the president and the CEO, Dia seeks to accelerate its sustainable and profitable growth, concentrating on the development of its strategic priorities and maintaining a closer and closer relationship with all its stakeholders," the company underlines.

Stephan DuCharme, who was appointed CEO of Dia in March 2020, explained that implementing the group's strategy requires developing a new operating model "based on decentralized and empowered national leadership with full responsibility for results, strategically supported by headquarters company corporate".

"We are focused on offering a differentiated value proposition compared to our competitors, a new store concept, reviewing our assortment and accelerating the development of our own brand. But, above all, we are laying the foundations for a new leadership and a solid management team. This roadmap is already a reality and the rise of Martín Tolcachir demonstrates this", added DuCharme.

In this new group structure, Martín Tolcachir, as the company's global CEO, will be responsible for implementing Dia's strategy. His appointment comes after the company completed its 2020 roadmap in 80% of its business.

With a degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Buenos Aires and an MBA from the IMD Business School, the new global CEO of Dia, who joined the company in September 2020, has more than 20 years of experience in the information sector. distribution and mass consumption, in companies such as Carrefour or Electrolux.
