Correos raises its public employment offer to 7,750 positions, the largest in decades

The unions celebrate it, although they maintain the strike called for June 1, 2 and 3

MADRID, 26 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Correos has expanded the initial public employment offer of 5,377 positions launched last December by 2,380, so that now the offer amounts to a total of 7,750 positions, that is, its largest public employment offer in decades.

This expansion of positions is the result of dialogue with the union organizations that are participating in the current negotiation process and it involves jobs with an indefinite contract in different operational categories such as distribution, classification and customer service.

This process combines the calls for vacancies in 2020, 2021 and the stabilization process, to cover 7,757 positions in professional group IV (operational staff), as reported by the public postal company.

The management of this new employment consolidation process will be carried out in two different phases. Initially, the selection system, scheduled tests and assessment of merits will be established and, in a second phase, the offer of jobs and their distribution will be announced, and the period for submitting applications will be opened.

The postal company will make its own and official contents of the agenda available to the general public in advance, with the forecast that the tests will take place in March 2023, which represents a delay with the previous forecast of carrying them out in November 2022.

With this call, Correos defends reinforcing its brand "as a quality employer", betting on stable employment and the professional development of its employees, while at the same time guaranteeing a stable framework of labor relations and promoting talent as an accelerator of the change that is already is taking place in the company, in the face of new challenges and the demands of its customers.

THE UNIONS CELEBRATE IT

The unions CC.OO. and UGT have valued this increase in places and describe it as "the first success" of the strike that both unions have called for June 1, 2 and 3, as well as the demonstration that will tour the streets of Madrid until reaching the doors of the Congress of Deputies next June 1, with the assistance of the parliamentary political groups.

In any case, the unions maintain the call considering that, despite the conversion of temporary employment into permanent employment that is made with this job offer, Correos "suffers a loss of more than 2,000 fewer jobs per year", which It has led "to the loss of more than 7,000 positions of the 55,000 it had in 2018, leaving the company with 48,000 workers."

Likewise, they believe that Correos intends to include more than 3,000 partial positions (40% of the total) in the job offer, which would increase this type of position to 30% of the total workforce.
