Congress refuses to fail Irene Montero after the reduction of sentences of the Law of 'only yes is yes'

MADRID, 15 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Plenary Session of Congress, with a comfortable majority of more than 195 votes, has rejected this Wednesday Vox's proposal to reprove the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, for the reduction of sentences as a result of the implementation of the Guarantee Law of Sexual Freedom, known as the Law of 'only yes is yes'. Nor has it supported the requests of those of Abascal for his dismissal and for the elimination of the Ministry of Equality.

Vox's non-legal proposal, which was debated last Tuesday, has been voted for by points in such a way that, the first of them, in which the disapproval of Montero is claimed, has had the votes in favor of PP and Vox and the abstention of Citizens; while the second, which called on the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, to dismiss the minister, has only had the support of PP and Vox.

The third vote has taken place on the point that demanded from the Executive the elimination of the Ministry of Equality, a proposal in which those of Santiago Abascal have been left alone voting in favor.

During the debate on this initiative, Vox's deputy spokesperson in Congress, Inés Cañizares, justified the request for disapproval by pointing out that the initiatives launched by the Ministry of Equality "harm the common good." In addition, he criticized Montero's "demonstrated incompetence", his "persistent advocacy of sexual activity with and among minors", his "incisive attacks on the separation of powers and the rule of law" or his "negligence" regarding the protection Women's.

The PP expressed itself in a similar way, although the main opposition party also pointed to the PSOE as responsible for the policies carried out by Montero. The spokesperson for Equality of the 'popular', Margarita Prohéns, criticized that the Socialists were "incapable of stopping the minister's feet". "They are her laws, she is her minister and it is her irresponsibility," she said.

The abstention of Ciudadanos to the disapproval of Montero was already advanced by his spokesperson on this matter, Sara Giménez. The deputy herself criticized Montero's management at the head of the department, although she was opposed to the disappearance of the Ministry.
