Citizens are suspicious of the PP and encourage Podemos to support an investigation by 'Mediator' different from that of the 'popular'

MADRID, 1 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The spokesperson for Ciudadanos in Congress, Inés Arrimadas, considers that the PP has been "reluctant" to promote an investigative commission in the Lower House for the 'Mediator' plot from the outset and believes that the 'popular' have gone " dragging their feet", and for this reason he has revealed that he is in contact with United We Can to support the alternative proposal defended by the orange party.

Ciudadanos was the first party that spoke of creating an investigation commission for this Canarian corruption plot, in view of the fact that the judicial investigation has uncovered meetings in offices of the Socialist Group and dinners with deputies from this party followed by parties that included drugs and prostitution.

But the 'orange' party did not obtain the necessary signatures and it was the PP who registered the initiative this Wednesday. The 'popular' spokesperson, Cuca Gamarra, alleges that this case "cannot be covered up" and that it is time for Congress "not to look the other way" because "this plot was also at work" in its offices.

Arrimadas has sent a letter to his counterparts from the other groups asking them to support the constitution of an investigation commission and they are in talks with Foro Asturias and the deputies expelled from UPN to formalize the registration of the initiative.

In a press conference from the Lower House, Arrimadas has indicated that he hopes that the PP will "rectify", "stop dragging its feet" and "understand" that the request of Citizens "is the correct one". He has also expressed "strangeness" to see "groups", without specifying, that are "reluctant" or directly "unwilling" to support one because it is "logical" that Congress be the one to purify political responsibilities for this "obscene" and "embarrassing" plot 'Mediator'.

"There will be no excuse that some can find to oppose (the commission)", he added, stressing that it is those who "block" them who have to explain why.

In any case, Arrimadas has indicated that the 'orange' formation wants the commission to go ahead, so it will presumably vote in favor of the 'popular' one if they fail to present their initiative. "We want it to go ahead and we don't mind that others react later if it does come out in the end," he said.

Referring to United We Can, the parliamentary spokesperson has made an "express request" to her 'purple' counterpart, Pablo Echenique, to join the groups that support this proposal. From the PSOE, she has indicated that she "should be the first party interested in debugging responsibilities and identifying" the deputies allegedly involved. "Maybe it's that they don't know what number of deputies can come out", she has slipped.

Sources from the 'orange' parliamentary group state that they are in contact with United We Can on the matter, although these conversations are not formal. The same sources point out that the government's partners are waiting for the media repercussions that the 'Mediator' case may have and see if they can weather the storm. At the moment, they specify that they are also speaking with members of the Mixed and Plural group.
