The Madrid pilot exceeded the assigned changes in the electronic components

MADRID, 22 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish pilot Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) has received this Friday a penalty of 10 positions on the grid of the race of this doingo of the French Grand Prix for exceeding his control electronics assignment, according to Formula 1.

"He will receive a 10-place grid penalty as the 'Scuderia' have fitted a third electronic power unit (EC), exceeding their allocation of two for the season. They have also assembled their second, and last, permitted power reserve." announced the statement.

Ferrari already reported before the start of the GP at Paul Ricard that it was considering changing the Spaniard's power unit, after Sainz had to abandon his car, which suffered an incident and caught fire at the Austrian GP.

Now, the Italian team could choose to fit more power unit components to the Spaniard's car, which could result in additional penalties for the race.

For his part, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) assembled his third turbocharger, third MGU-H, second energy accumulator (ES) and second electronic control of the season in France, the maximum assignment, for which he will not suffer a penalty.
