Carlos Sainz: "I've helped the team and we've had a good weekend so far"

The Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) congratulated himself this Saturday for having "helped" the team by slipstreaming his teammate, Charles Leclerc, to achieve pole, at the same time that he stated that, "in terms of speed", is "the best weekend so far".

"We have worked well as a team, like all year, but it is still not valued enough," said the Madrid native in statements on Dazn after qualifying for the French Grand Prix.

Being suspended for mounting his fourth power unit this season, which will make him start on the last row this Sunday, Sainz is convinced that "it's time to come back". "In terms of speed it's the best weekend so far. There was potential to have taken pole, but it's time to penalize and slipstream, I think I've helped and we've had a good weekend so far," he said.

"It's a bit of a slow race, but it won't be easy, there's a lot of strategy options, it's a very long pit, we'll see the best option," said Sainz about the tires and the stops in the race.
