Carlos Sainz dominates the first free practice sessions at the Hungaroring

MADRID, 29 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish driver Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) dominated the first contact at the Hungaroring Circuit, the scene this weekend of the Hungarian Grand Prix, the thirteenth round of the Formula 1 World Championship, ahead of the Dutchman Max Verstappen ( Red Bull), while Fernando Alonso (Alpine) finished tenth.

The last appointment before the summer break in the championship opened with a sun that is not expected especially for this Saturday, where the forecast is for rain, and with Red Bull and Ferrari fighting their first duel, at the moment far superior to the rest of Grill.

In a quiet and uneventful first session, the driver from Madrid, the best in the second sector, fought a nice battle with Verstappen and the other Ferrari, the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), who fought to lead the time table, all of them with the soft tires.

Finally, Sainz was the best of the three, with a time of 1:18.750, 130 thousandths faster than the current world champion and leader of the World Championship. Both were the only ones capable of going below 1:19, something that the other Ferrari touched with a time of 1:19.039.

From there, the differences were much wider with the rest. The English Lando Norris (McLaren) was already fourth, more than half a second behind Sainz and the 'Top 5' was completed by his compatriot George Russell, more than eight tenths away, although with a hard tire, as well as Lewis Hamilton, seventh.

For his part, the Asturian Fernando Alonso, on the day of his 41st birthday, closed the 'Top 10' very far from Sainz, more than a second and a half, and very close to his teammate and winner at the Hungaroring last year, Esteban Ocon, from whom 29 thousandths separated him, although the French marked his time with means.
