Brussels points out that the audits did not find irregularities in the GAR-SI project led by Spain

BRUSSELS, March 4. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The European Commission has indicated this Saturday that audits of the GAR-SI Sahel project, for security deployment in the Sahel led by the Civil Guard, found no irregularities in purchases related to the project financed with European funds.

"The independent audits carried out on the GARSI regional project found no irregularities, for example, the equipment was purchased and delivered in accordance with the provisions of the contract," a community spokesperson told Europa Press.

The European Executive has indicated that it is investigating any potential risk or link with operations that have benefited from EU funding, respecting the investigation carried out by the Spanish authorities.

"As a general rule, we do not comment on ongoing investigations in the Member States," said the spokesman, stressing that if necessary he will take all appropriate measures and refer the case to the European anti-fraud agency (OLAF). .
