Biden seeks to "strengthen" a strategic alliance with Saudi Arabia

MADRID, 10 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, explained this Saturday that he will travel to Saudi Arabia with the aim of "strengthening" a strategic alliance that "is based on mutual interests and responsibilities."

"When I meet with the Saudi leadership on Friday, my goal will be to strengthen a strategic alliance for the future that is based on mutual interests and responsibilities," he said.

Likewise, Biden has clarified that these common interests must remain "faithful to fundamental American values."

"I know that many people do not agree with my decision to travel to Saudi Arabia. My views on Human Rights are clear (...). Fundamental freedoms are always on the agenda when I travel, and they will be during this trip", he indicated.

The US head of state has stated that his job is to "counter Russian aggression", "overcome" China and achieve "greater stability in the region". "A more secure and integrated Middle East benefits Americans in many ways," he said.

"To achieve these results, we have to engage directly with the countries that can influence these effects," added the president.
