Barbón believes that the Feijóo of national politics is different from the regional one and has the feeling of two-headedness in the PP

MADRID, 30 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Asturias, Adrián Barbón, has been "surprised" at the change that, in his opinion, the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has experienced in national politics regarding his time as regional president, proclaiming that "he gives the feeling" that there are two Popular Parties.

This is how Barbón spoke during his speech at the Europa Press information breakfast about his relationship with Feijóo while he was in charge of the Galician Executive. "I have worked a lot with Alberto, on regional financing, on issues of demographic challenges, we know him in a different way than in national politics, which surprises us a lot from what we knew about in our negotiations," he asserted.

In this context, Barbón has added that, from his point of view, Feijóo has not led the "change of opposition that he thought he was going to bring" with the arrival of the Galician politician, ensuring that "sometimes it gives the feeling that there is no one PP, but there are two".

And here, the Asturian president has reproached Feijóo for insinuating that the Pedro Sánchez government "does not have electoral legitimacy": "I think it is difficult for the PP to find that space and cannot fall under pressure into the temptation of questioning the institutions, of the electoral result"

In any case, Barbón has recognized his good relationship with Feijóo, as well as with neighboring presidents, such as Alfonso Rueda, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco or Miguel Ángel Revilla, of whom he has revealed that he has been entrusted with the task of how it should be his burial.

Beyond this, Barbón has also spoken about the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, and his way of facing this electoral cycle and the presidency of the European Union during the second semester of this 2023, stating that he sees him "convinced" and working in the dynamics of overcoming the crisis.

For Asturias, Barbón considers that the presidency of the EU can benefit in the energy field, because, as he has said, Sánchez "is going to develop his full potential".

"If the Presidency goes well, it reinforces the president's profile," Barbón said when asked if he thinks it will do him good in the face of the general elections.
