Applus invests up to 38 million in purchases so far this year to grow in cybersecurity

This year Applus has continued executing its commitment to grow in cybersecurity certification with the purchase of the Canadian Lightship Security, Inc. and the Spanish Jtsec for a joint amount that could exceed 38 million euros in total.

The Spanish firm announced last January the purchase of Lightship Security for a fixed amount of 30.3 million Canadian dollars (20.9 million euros at the exchange rate at the time of acquisition), an amount that the firm reveals in its reports intermediate financiers consulted by Europa Press.

In addition to the fixed amount, Applus could disburse an additional payment of 14.5 million Canadian dollars (10 million euros) between 2022 and 2026 if certain variables are met.

On the other hand, already in July, the listed company also undertook the acquisition of the Spanish company Jtsec, in this case for just over seven million euros.

Cybersecurity acquisitions are not the only ones that Applus has carried out so far this year. In the first semester, the firm disbursed 42.8 million in acquisitions and its contribution accounted for a quarter of the firm's revenue growth in the first half of the year.

Thus, during the first half of the year, the Spanish company bought Alpe Metrología, a calibration and testing laboratory from Navarre, in April for four million fixed euros and 200,000 variable euros.

Subsequently, it acquired IDV Madrid to operate its three ITVs for 14.2 million euros and 30% of Indor Climate Management, a company specializing in air conditioning management solutions, for three million euros.

After the end of the semester, the company disbursed an unspecified amount to acquire the environmental monitoring and consulting service provider K2 Engineering, based in Colombia. This firm invoiced 13 million euros in 2021.

The acquisition of the companies to complete its testing and certification offer is part of the company's strategic plan, now with Joan Amigó at the helm.

Its latest results have defied market expectations with a net result of 53.3 million euros up to June, 23% more than in 2021.
