Almeida, on the extension of the anti-crisis plan: "It is difficult to agree with Sánchez, who sees the negotiation as a surrender"

He says that what the President of the Government proposes to the PP "is blackmail" and does not take into account Feijóo's "sense of State"

MADRID, 6 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, assured this Monday, in relation to the extension of the anti-crisis decree that the Government wants to extend for three months, that it is "very difficult" to negotiate and reach agreements with the chief executive, Pedro Sánchez, who sees the negotiation as "an unconditional surrender" and does not take into account the "sense of state" of the PP leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

This was stated at an informative breakfast organized by Europa Press, which was attended by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, the president of the PP of Castilla-La Mancha, Paco Núñez , the president of the Committee of Rights and Guarantees of the PP, José Antonio Monago, or the president of the Assembly of Madrid, Eugenia Carballedo, among others.

When expressly asked if the PP will vote 'no' again to that anti-crisis decree that now wants to be extended and that includes measures such as the 20-cent discount on fuel, Almeida has indicated that Sánchez must understand that Feijóo "has a sense of State " and, therefore, "has the capacity to be able to reach agreements that benefit all Spaniards".

"But Pedro Sánchez has to understand that reaching agreements with the PP is not an unconditional surrender of the Popular Party. It is something that I still think he has not accepted," said the Madrid councilor.

Almeida has pointed out that when Sánchez "speaks with the rest of the parliamentary groups, it seems that he is capable of reaching agreements" as, as he has said, "unfortunately he does with Bildu or with ERC". In fact, last week, Moncloa reached an agreement with Bildu to include a 15% increase in non-contributory pensions in this extension of the anti-crisis decree.

However, he has pointed out that "what he proposes to the PP is blackmail." "Either you do what I say or you don't want to reach any kind of agreement", he stated, insisting that it is "very difficult to negotiate with someone" like Pedro Sánchez, who "thinks that the negotiation consists" in the PP "surrenders unconditionally".

Almeida has criticized that the head of the Executive "does not take into account that Feijóo has a sense of State" as, as he has underlined, he has proven throughout his political career as president of the Xunta de Galicia.

In addition, he recalled that Feijóo has already offered agreements to the President of the Government, such as the one he offered at the Conference of Presidents on the island of La Palma to lower taxes and that Pedro Sánchez "has not complied in any way".

In this sense, he stressed that Feijóo has presented an economic proposal that he has sent to the Government focused on combating inflation and that it can be "economically compensated via tax", something that "Pedro Sánchez refuses". "Therefore, it is very difficult to reach an agreement with a person who understands that the agreement is an unconditional surrender," he concluded.
