Acciona Energía enters the Ibex 35 one year after its debut on the stock market

MADRID, 9 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Ibex Technical Advisory Committee has announced that Acciona Energía, together with Sacyr, will join the Ibex 35 from June 20, replacing Almirall and CIE Automotive.

Acciona Energía's entry into the Ibex 35 was proving to be difficult since, despite its high trading volume, 83% of the company's capital is in the hands of its parent company, the construction company Acciona, which is already present on the Ibex 35 since 1997 with its current name.

However, it is in the 33rd position of listed companies by trading volume, with some 725 million euros between December last year and May this year, a period that the Ibex committee has taken into consideration to make this review.

Acciona Energía debuted on the Stock Exchange less than a year ago, after placing 17.25% of its capital at a price of 26.73 euros, which represents a valuation of 8,800 million euros, being the largest IPO in Spain since that of Cellnex in 2015.

In this first year, its shares have risen in value by 44%, to now trading at 38.5 euros per share, with a market capitalization of 12,680 million euros, already surpassing even its parent company. Likewise, it has already delivered its first dividend of 0.28 euros per share, increasing this revaluation for the shareholder.

The company claims to be the largest 100% renewable utility in the world, with 10.7 gigawatts (GW) of assets in operation, having around 80% of its production already contracted and therefore with a low risk profile.

Its objective is now to take advantage of its IPO to double this installed capacity to 20 GW in 2025, with a total associated investment of 7,800 million euros. Subsequently, it plans to reach 30 GW by 2030 through its portfolio of projects already underway of 17.4 GW, as well as with other identified long-term opportunities of 33.3 GW.

At the corporate level, in this first year since its IPO, Acciona Energy has bought the company that installs and manages charging points, Cargacoches, has acquired 85% of the French firm specializing in energy efficiency services, Eqinov, and has made with 24% of Eolink, specialized in the development of floating structures for offshore wind power.

Likewise, it has won different contracts such as the one from the Gijón City Council to be in charge of the city's energy services for 15 years for 160 million euros or the one from Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) to supply energy to its shopping centers for 15 years .
