A woman dies after being buried in her home by the heavy rains derived from hurricane 'Julia'

A woman has died in the province of Colón in Panama, located on the Caribbean coast, after being buried in her home by a landslide as a result of heavy rains caused by hurricane 'Julia'.

The operators were able to save the life of an 8-year-old girl in the same residence after 11:00 p.m., who was later transferred to the hospital. However, they couldn't do anything for the woman when they recovered her lifeless body during the rescue efforts, as reported by 'Panamá América'.

In addition, the troops have recommended another family to evacuate the house for safety after evaluating the damage caused by another displacement of land in the district of Cristóbal, also in the province of Colón, according to the local newspaper 'El Siglo'.

Emergency teams have also inspected houses affected by flooding in Cativá, after the nearby river overflowed due to heavy rainfall.

The National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) closely follows the weather behavior at the national level of 'Julia'. The director of Hydrometeorology of Etesa, Luz Graciela Calzadilla, has expressed that the winds are expected to increase and therefore, greater damage will occur, as reported by the same medium.
