A private plane from Jerez de la Frontera crashes in the Baltic Sea

MADRID, 4 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

A private Cessna plane from Jerez de la Frontera airport has crashed in the Baltic Sea near Ventspils, Latvia, on its way to Cologne/Bonn, Germany, according to its flight plan.

The device would have had problems due to the pressure in the cabin, according to the German tabloid newspaper 'Bild', which ensures that a woman, the pilot, a man and their daughter were traveling on the plane.

According to the flight radar flight tracking website, the device left Jerez this morning, crossed Spain, France, Germany and entered the Baltic Sea. Contact was lost after passing the coast of Plonia, the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad and the coast of Lithuania until entering the sea area closest to Latvia.

Spanish and French fighter planes took off to check the situation in the private plane, but the pilots could not distinguish anyone in the cabin, always according to 'Bild'.

Already in Germany, a Eurofighter fighter plane took off from the Rostock air base to track the Cessna plane, but could not obtain information either.

Later, a Danish F-16 fighter jet took over the escort of the aircraft and the pilots could see the plane turn and crash off Latvia at around 7:45 p.m.

The Swedish Coast Guard has dispatched rescue planes, boats and a helicopter to the crash site.
