A group of soldiers deposes the leader of the junta in a new coup in Burkina Faso

MADRID, 30 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

A group of soldiers from the Patriotic Movement for Salvation and Restoration (MPSR), led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, deposed this Friday the leader of the Burkina Faso junta and transitional president of the country, Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba, in a new stuck in the country.

The military, who have defended the coup in the face of the discontent that the country is experiencing due to jihadist terrorism, have announced on state television the suspension of the Transitional Government and the Constitution, according to the Burkina24 news portal.

Traoré, accompanied by a group of soldiers dressed in their uniforms and helmets, has declared himself the leader of the MPSR and has imposed a curfew between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. (local time). He has also suspended political activities.
