Zelensky assures that Ukraine is looking for alternative routes for the export of cereals in the face of the Russian blockade

KIEV, 12 Ago. (DPA/EP) -

The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelensky, has assured that Ukraine "is making an effort to develop alternative grain export routes" in the face of the Russian blockade of the Black Sea ports.

"We are doing everything possible so that Ukraine continues to be a guarantor of food security," Zelensky said in his speech this Friday night, in which he also pointed out the need for the country's population to "access markets world".

The leader of the Ukrainian Executive has communicated during his speech that this is a matter that he has already addressed with the heads of the Army, with the intelligence service and the Navy, as well as with government representatives.

Russia in mid-July withdrew its security guarantees for Ukrainian grain exports through the Black Sea. Moscow then tried to destroy the infrastructure for these exports with air strikes on ports such as Odessa. These attacks also affected the Ukrainian ports on the Danube, through which an alternative route runs.

Transporting grain, corn, fertilizer and other agricultural products by rail or truck is more complex and expensive than shipping.
