Vox threatens to convene the commission to monitor the agreement in the Balearic Islands in the face of the "disagreement" over languages

MADRID, 18 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Vox deputy for the Balearic Islands, Jorge Campos Asensi, threatened this Wednesday with the possibility of the formation convening the commission to monitor the agreement reached in the islands with the PP due to the "disagreement" between the two over the use of languages. in schools.

The PP governs the Balearic Islands alone by virtue of a programmatic agreement with Vox, which abstained from the investiture session of the regional president, Marga Prohens. But the relationship between the two has been strained after the 'popular' did not support a proposal from Santiago Abascal on the free choice of languages in education and, in response, the processing of the 2024 Budgets has been paralyzed.

In statements to the media at the presentation of the October 29 demonstration against the amnesty called by the Foundation for the Defense of the Spanish Nation (DENAES), Campos has insisted on linking Vox's support to the regional budgets to which the PP support his initiative on languages in education which, as he emphasizes, is part of the agreement reached with the PP.

"Everything that is agreed upon, everything that is in the government agreement to recover linguistic freedom, must be fulfilled," said Campos, who emphasized that this point is "one of the main points of the agreement" and a "flag" of those of Santiago Abascal.

For this reason, and if the PP "refuses" to support the freedom of choice of languages in education, Vox "will have to convene the agreement monitoring commission to establish what to do if the agreement is not fulfilled on its own." part," said the deputy.

Of course, Campos has described what happened as a "disagreement" and has indicated that both parties are negotiating in the Balearic Islands to "resolve" the situation. Along these lines, he has expressed his hope that the Abascal initiative will go ahead, "because it is an issue that the majority of the citizens of the Balearic Islands want: to end the imposition of Catalan in education."
