Vodafone and Telefónica, leaders in Gartner's 'Magic Quadrant' for IoT managed services

Vodafone and Telefónica have been recognized for the tenth consecutive year as leaders in Gartner's 'Magic Quadrant' for Managed IoT Connectivity Services (Internet of Things) worldwide, as reported by the two operators in separate statements.

The Gartner report analyzes the execution and vision of the players in the global IoT market and, for its part, the operator chaired by José María Álvarez-Pallete has recalled that it provides these services through its subsidiary Telefónica Tech.

"Telefónica, which provides IoT services through Telefónica Tech, has a strong presence in Europe and Latin America, serving various sectors such as energy, automotive, retail, manufacturing, agriculture and transportation, and is experiencing strong double-digit growth in global IoT connections," the company detailed.

The global director of IoT at Telefónica Tech, Alfredo Serret, has highlighted the importance of the company having received this recognition for the tenth consecutive year and has assessed that this milestone reaffirms the company as a "global player in IoT connectivity."

"We continue to evolve our capabilities, incorporating artificial intelligence along with other technologies to enhance its benefits and continue offering the best service to our clients," he added.

Meanwhile, Vodafone has highlighted that the report reflects that the company has the "largest number of IoT connections of the providers evaluated in this 'Magic Quadrant'" and the "most regionally diverse" growth rate.

"Within that quadrant, Gartner has placed Vodafone as a leader among the leaders in the IoT market. The report highlights that, in addition to the network or devices, Vodafone offers a wide range of value-added services to its customers beyond of pure connectivity, which facilitate the connectivity and management of devices, allowing processes to be monitored, controlled and optimized," he highlighted.

Likewise, he has emphasized that the diversification of sectors in which the operator has incorporated this technology is positively valued, including the automotive, energy and public services, health, insurance, agriculture, industry, public sector, transportation, natural resources and retail.

"As a result of this strategy, according to the report, Vodafone registered 184.9 million IoT connections managed in 190 countries at the end of June 2023, representing a year-on-year growth of 16.3% in connections," he added. .
