Vara does not know if he would run if the elections in Extremadura are repeated: "I was already in retreat"

MÉRIDA, June 22 (EUROPA PRESS) -

The acting president of the Junta de Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara, has assured today that he does not know if he would run again in the event of a repetition of the elections in Extremadura because he has said "he was already in retreat".

This was stated during an interview on Onda Cero, collected by Europa Press, in which he criticized the "frivolity" with which the president of the Extremadura PP, María Guardiola, spoke of holding a second election in Extremadura due to the lack of agreement of his party with Vox, a situation that he has attributed to "personal interests".

However, in the event that a repetition of the elections finally takes place, Fernández Vara has assured that he does not know if he would run again: "I don't know", replied the socialist leader, who explained that he would have to consult with his party and with his family.

"I was already in withdrawal", so in the event that new elections are called it will have to see "how we guide this", Vara pointed out.

In any case, the acting president of Extremadura has been "very concerned" about the possibility that a second election will have to be held in the region, due to the "very serious consequences that this would have", since according to what he has calculated, "There would be no government until well into the month of January," he said.

"Thinking that this could be a possibility simply outrages me," said Vara, who reiterated his "feeling" of which he is "more convinced by the minute, that the PP and Vox are experiencing in Extremadura how they are going to relate from the month of July", something that "seems fatal".

Thus, and on whether he would choose between repeating the elections or a PP and Vox government in Extremadura, Fernández Vara has reaffirmed that he is "very institutional", for which he has defended that "no one has the right to deprive Extremadurans of a Government for personal interests, and that is what is happening."

In this sense, the socialist leader from Extremadura has assured that "in addition, the whole truth is not being told", since "the charges are not at stake" but now it is being known through messages published in national media, "how negotiation has frivolized, how now one thing was offered, and then two more eggs were laid, and then two more eggs, and see who ends up winning".

For this reason, Vara has indicated that "what has happened seems absolutely frivolous", which in his opinion supposes "a game of chess in which we Extremadura are putting the pawns", he said.

In addition, he added that "in this frivolization of politics, they talk about everything except the problems of the people", but rather "nothing more than armchairs", something that Fernández Vara has considered "very little serious", since "The important thing is not the people but the policies they develop."

Faced with this situation, he regretted that "the interests of the parties are placed above the interests of the people of Extremadura", the acting president of the Board reiterated.
