Valencia Basket collapses at the end in Milan

Those from Mumbrú, in tow, fight without completing the comeback in the last quarter

MADRID, 29 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Valencia Basket gave up (90-79) their last game of 2022 in their visit to Armani Milano on matchday 16 of the Euroleague held at the Mediolanum Forum, a clash that went down after a bad start but fought until the end, without completing the comeback.

Álex Mumbrú's team showed both sides of a season in which it did not finish becoming strong. After their victory over Barça last week, the 'taronja' team failed to take another step forward on the field of a Milan that extended their good moment. The Italians, with a great Brandon Davies (17 points and a PIR of 32), linked their third victory in a row (6-10) and the Valencian team let the 'playoffs' train escape.

Dubljevic's 21 points in the first half kept a Valencia alive that missed its point guard Jones, reserved on his return from injury, and Harper did not have the necessary leadership. The Italian success made the duel very uphill for the Spanish team, but there was no surrender at the hands of their captain.

With 'Dubi' extending his great form, the 50-43 did not look bad after what was seen for those from Mumbrú. Ettore Messina's team maintained the lead after the break (71-60) with another strong blow to the scoreboard to which Valencia knew how to respond.

Those from Mumbrú showed their ability to compete, but were left on the edge of the comeback thanks to Baron (24 points). Valencia ended up getting into the ointment with Rivero and López-Arostegui at the decisive moment, but in a minute, Milano again extended the rent to the 'taronja' despair. DATA SHEET:
