US finds no evidence of terrorism in car explosion near Niagara Falls

MADRID, 23 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, has stated that they have found no evidence of terrorism in the explosion this Wednesday of a vehicle on the border with Canada, near Niagara Falls, which resulted in the death of the two passengers.

"We are investigating, more information could emerge, but according to the preliminary investigation, there are no signs of terrorist involvement in the horrible explosion that took place," he declared, according to a statement from his office.

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reported hours before that it was investigating the explosion, which occurred in the city of Buffalo, and noted that it was coordinating with local, state and federal authorities to clarify the facts, which caused the closure of the bridge.

"We really don't know much, except that there was a vehicle trying to enter the United States and they have closed both sides of the bridge," Niagara Falls city spokesman Aaron Ferguson told CNN.

Buffalo International Airport has increased security screening, with special attention to vehicles entering or parking at the facility, as well as additional screening of passengers.
