UPN transfers its support to Feijóo to the King and admits that it prefers other elections to a Government with Bildu and a "fugitive"

MADRID, 21 (EUROPA PRESS) - The president of the Unión del Pueblo Navaro (UPN), Javier Esparza, has informed the King that his formation maintains its intention to support the investiture of Alberto Núñez Feijóo and has said that he prefers to repeat the general elections before than a government of Pedro Sánchez supported by Bildu and a "fugitive from justice" like former president Carles Puigdemont, from Junts.

The head of state has opened this Monday with UPN his round of consultations with parliamentary formations to designate a candidate for the investiture, in which for the first time there are two applicants who are willing to take on the task of going to an investiture debate, the ' popular' Alberto Núñez Feijóo and the socialist Pedro Sánchez.

Esparza, who has appeared together with the deputy Alberto Catalán and the senator María Caballero, has recalled that since before the elections UPN had already made clear its support for the investiture of Feijóo and considers that "the best thing for this country" would be that PP and PSOE will agree to a minimum so as not to depend on the independentistas, although he admits that this seems "impossible".

"I think it would be the best because there would be stability, certainty, moderate policies and essential reforms, but this is dreaming," he lamented, stressing that the current political landscape seems "worrying" to him.

His impression is that Pedro Sánchez "is seeking to govern with those who want to break Spain" and he is concerned that Bildu, who has terrorists in his ranks, and "a fugitive from Justice like Puigdemont" participate in the equation.

And, although Sánchez could be sworn in, Esparza warns that the scenario will make governance "very complex." Thus, he admits that, between a PSOE government with Bildu and new elections, he prefers to repeat the elections. "Hopefully they will be held," he commented.

Esparza, who has criticized the possibility of a candidate who has not won the elections finally governing, has also warned Sánchez that Spain is a State of Law and "has to comply with the law, beyond its partisan and political interests". . "Issues that may be unconstitutional cannot be yielded to the independence movement," he summarized.

But, in any case, Esparza has wanted to make it clear that UPN will support any decision that the king makes regarding the candidate for the investiture.

Required in case UPN has signed some kind of agreement with the PP or gives Feijóo its vote 'for free', Esparza has clarified that the intention of his formation is to "defend the positions of Navarra". In this sense, on whether he could support initiatives of the PSOE, he has defended that politics "has to serve the citizens" and has maintained that UPN is not "in the no to everything", if it is "beneficial" for the population.
