United win their first game 'post Ronaldo' and Chelsea break their losing streak

MADRID, 27 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Manchester United began the 'post Cristiano Ronaldo' era on Tuesday with a comfortable 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest, while Chelsea managed to break their league losing streak by winning 2-0 against Bournemouth, in matches corresponding to the seventeenth day of the Premier League 2022-2023.

The 'Red Devils' did not fail at Old Trafford in their first official match now without the presence of the Portuguese striker and without leaving too many options for the penultimate place to move to a point behind fourth place held by Tottenham.

Erik ten Hag's men did not need an excessively brilliant match, largely solved by their great start with quick goals from their pair of strikers, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, between minutes 19 and 22.

That advantage allowed United to handle the match at will, with few scares for David de Gea, although the VAR annulled a goal by Boly before the break that could have given emotion. In the second half, the locals controlled and sought to take advantage of the spaces that Forest could leave. The Brazilian Fred, after a pass from his compatriot Casemiro, sealed the local victory in the closing stages.

For their part, Chelsea took a breather and came out of their poor results dynamics before the World Cup break in Qatar after beating Bournemouth 2-0 with solvency, their first league win since last October 16.

The London team was far superior to their rival, especially in the first half, where they put their victory on track. The German Kai Havertz made it 1-0 after fifteen minutes and when the visitors tried to react the English Mason Mount scored the 2-0.

Graham Potter's men enjoyed more chances to increase their income and although they did not manage to do so, they knew how to control the attack well in the final stretch of Bournemouth to keep the three points and get six from the 'Champions zone'.
