Ukraine thanks Spain for its "disposition" to the kyiv peace plan at the Jeddah meeting

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, has thanked the Spanish government for the "disposition" exhibited during the security meeting in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) towards the peace plan presented by Kiev to end the war with Russia.

During the meeting, held this weekend in the Arab city with security representatives from more than 30 countries, Russia excluded, Yermak held a bilateral meeting with the Director of Foreign Affairs of the Presidency of the Spanish Government, Emma Aparici, with whom he has dealt with all the issues raised in the security forum.

"Both parties have discussed new forms of support for security, as well as the interaction with the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union," Yermak said in a statement.

Likewise, Yermak has explained that he has conveyed his thanks to Spain for its recent incorporation into the so-called 'G7 Joint Declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine', a document drawn up by the seven main economies in the world and announced last month that outlines the guidelines for the future of the country's security.

Finally, Yermak thanked "Madrid's willingness to join the implementation" of the Ukraine peace plan, the so-called "Formula for Peace", a ten-point program that, in principle and for example, calls for the withdrawal of all Russian forces from Ukraine, including territories that Moscow considers an indissoluble part of the Russian Federation, such as the Crimean peninsula.

The bilateral meeting was one of those held by Yermak in the framework of the meeting. Faces have also been seen with security representatives from the United States, Saudi Arabia, Finland, Japan, Qatar, France, Germany, Norway, Turkey, Poland and Slovakia.

European sources already advanced last Saturday the conclusions of a security meeting in which the participating countries have agreed on the need to reach a peace agreement that fully respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country, and the creation of working groups on the salient aspects of the Kiev proposal.

The meeting is considered the continuation of the meeting held in June in Copenhagen (Denmark) and a Saudi mediation drive to bring together the different positions of the participating countries on the end of the war in Ukraine, including India or China, closer to the Moscow authorities and present at the talks.

European sources highlight the role played by China during this meeting, in which it has participated "actively" and has even been favorable "to the idea of a third meeting" at the security level.

This meeting could even evolve into a security summit of heads of state and government of the countries meeting in Jeddah, an idea that could be considered "plausible" at the end of the year.

Russia has assured on countless occasions that it will not even sit down at the table to discuss Zelensky's peace plan and has insisted that any peace negotiations on Ukraine must take into account "the new territorial realities" that appeared nine years ago and demands security guarantees on NATO deployment in Eastern Europe.

Regarding this meeting in particular, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, indicated in a recent interview with the Russian channel RBC that "as everyone knows", any conclusion reached in a political meeting without the presence of Russia "is devoid of any meaning and it is nonsense", although he has expressed his country's willingness to discuss the results of the meeting.
