The general secretary of Junts, Jordi Turull, assured this Monday that the transfer of immigration powers to Catalonia, agreed with the PSOE to allow several Government decrees to be saved, is for the "comprehensive management" of these policies.
This was stated in an interview on TV3 reported by Europa Press, in which he explained that at the time of the agreement they did not agree on the content of the future organic law that will materialize the transfer of powers and they will now negotiate it with the socialists.
"It is a political decision of great significance, which is that the Generalitat can carry out the comprehensive management of immigration in Catalonia with all its derivatives," he stressed.
Furthermore, Turull has criticized the Minister of the Interior, Joan Ignasi Elena, and has asked not to be "afraid" of assuming the comprehensive management of powers regarding immigration.
He did so after Elena accused Turull of mixing immigration and security with an electoral objective. "It is not whoever wants to offend, but whoever can," the Junts leader snapped.
"Elena, when the tripartite governed and was from the PSC, the only Government that requested urgent meetings with the Ministry of the Interior with Rubalcaba to accelerate the expulsion of immigrants is the tripartite. So lessons of I don't know what, the minimum," he stressed .
