They are looking for a Tunisian for the shooting of Vidal-Quadras after the Police arrested three people in Malaga and Granada

MADRID, 21 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Investigators of the attempted murder of former politician Alejo Vidal-Quadras are looking for a person of Tunisian origin as the alleged perpetrator of the shooting in the center of Madrid on November 9. This Tuesday, police investigations led to the arrest of three people, including a man in Lanjarón (Granada) who is related to the preparations for the attack, as sources from the investigation confirm to Europa Press.

This is one of the two men with Spanish nationality arrested this Tuesday by agents of the General Information Commissariat. The Police located a first man in Fuengirola (Málaga) allegedly related to the motorcycle that was found burned in Fuenlabrada (Madrid) hours after the attack, and which would have been the one used in the escape by the shooter.

In addition, the Police arrested this Tuesday another man in Lanjarón, in his case for having allegedly participated in the preparations that allowed the attack in Madrid against the former Catalan PP politician and co-founder of Vox. A woman who is the partner of this second suspect was also arrested, although it was not possible to determine the degree of her involvement.

According to 'El Confidencial' and sources from the investigation confirm to Europa Press, the Police are now focusing their investigations on locating a fourth person involved, a man of Tunisian origin, whom they consider to be the author of the shot fired in broad daylight at the height of number 40 Núñez de Balboa Street in the capital.

This man covered his face with a helmet and visor, making it difficult to identify him. The shooter approached Vidal-Quadras on foot, whom he shot once in the face, and then fled the scene helped by a second person who was waiting for him on a motorcycle.

Vidal-Quadras himself - 78 years old and also former vice president of the European Parliament - pointed to the possible relationship with Iran, a country with which he has ties due to its support for the opposition to the theocratic regime, which included it in its list of personalities subject to sanctions for having provided "support to terrorist groups and propagation of violence and hatred."

The National Court took charge of the investigation since it could be a possible terrorist attack. The investigation was declared secret and fell to the Central Court of Instruction number 5, headed by Judge Santiago Pedraz, but when he was on leave, the court that replaced him took charge, which is number 1, directed by Francisco de Jorge. .

This Tuesday, the Gregorio Marañón General University Hospital updated the medical report reporting that Vidal-Quadras continues to progress favorably after undergoing surgery on November 9 for a double jaw fracture.

On the part of the Police, the investigation was initially undertaken by the Homicide group of the Madrid Police Headquarters, with support from the Scientific Police. Then the Provincial Information Brigade joined in investigations by the General Information Commissariat that this Tuesday led to the arrest of three people.

A poorly parked car served as a clue for the arrest of the two people in the municipality of Lanjarón (Granada), as municipal sources have detailed to Europa Press. It is a rental vehicle that was parked in an area where parking had been prohibited due to the upcoming celebration of an agri-food fair.

The Local Police tried without success to find the owner of the vehicle, so they proceeded to remove it and in the course of these tasks it was found that the car belonged to a rental company in Malaga, subsequently triggering the arrest of these two people. , a man and a woman who are a couple and who had rented an apartment on Avenida Alpujarra in the town, according to municipal sources.
