Thebes warns that the sports sanctions for the 'Negreira case' have already prescribed

The president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, warned this Thursday that there can no longer be any type of "sports" sanction for FC Barcelona for the 'Negreira case', having already prescribed for this type of punishment, and that they will appear "as an accusation particular" if there is finally a complaint by the Prosecutor's Office, while making it clear that "these things cannot happen in Spanish football".

Through a video on the official 'Twitter' channels of LaLiga, Tebas offered "the position" of the employers after having seen "everything" already on this matter that involves the former vice president of the CTA José María Enríquez Negreira and the group Catalan and unveiled 'Ser Catalunya', to "distinguish some clear issues".

"The first thing is that it is evident that in 2018 and the previous ones the 'compliance' rules that control conflicts of interest of both the CTA and FC Barcelona did not work since with what we have seen these services should not have been provided even in the amounts or the facts that have been provided", he stated.

In this sense, the leader pointed out that, although "there is talk that there could be sports sanctions", from the organization they have already "studied that it is not possible because from 2018 to 2023 five years have passed and this type of sanctions prescribes the three years".

"Another thing is in the field of criminal jurisdiction, that the Prosecutor's Office is investigating the facts and whether there may be a crime of corruption between individuals in the version of sports fixing," added Javier Tebas.

The president of LaLiga indicated that they are going to wait "to see how this investigation ends". "We are going to respect it and once it is over, if the Prosecutor's Office decides to file the appropriate complaint. From there we will make the decision, if there is a complaint, obviously we will have to appear as a private prosecution and if there is not, the matter will be archived " , he detailed.
