The spokesman for the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Patxi López, has assured this Tuesday, March 28, that his formation continues to be committed to definitively approving in Congress the reform of the Law on Sexual Freedom, known as the 'only yes is yes', despite the new extension for the term of presentation of amendments approved this Wednesday by the Bureau of the Chamber at the request of his group.

The governing body of the Chamber has agreed to a new extension, until April 5, but, since Easter is not a working week, it will be extended again until the 10th of next month, according to what López has advanced at a press conference in The congress.

This reform, which confronts the two members of the coalition government, is processed through the urgent procedure, which means cutting the deadlines by half, but the deadline for registering partial amendments has already been extended twice. Initially they had to have presented themselves on March 25.

On Monday the PSOE requested the last extension that has been granted by the Congress Table, where the Socialists add a majority with United We Can. The previous week he had also requested more time for the registration of ERC and Bildu amendments which, according to what the spokesperson for the Abertzale coalition, Mertxe Aizpurua, has commented at a press conference, are negotiating the presentation of a joint package.

The calendar that the PSOE manages is that there are no more extensions and the amendments are registered on April 10. His intention is that they be discussed the following day behind closed doors in the presentation of the Justice Commission and that the reform be elevated to the branch commission on the 13th. Senate on the 26th of the same month.

López has stressed that the PSOE "from the very beginning" is willing to agree on the rule with its partners, emphasizing that now it is the other groups that have to clarify whether they want to "fix or not" this rule given its unwanted effects , prison benefits for sexual offenders.
