The PP is close to agreeing with CC, does not rule out the PNV and offers to "talk to everyone", but not "swallow everything"

Bendodo denies pressure on the King in favor of Feijóo and insists that they have "authority" to want to preside over Congress

The general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo, has assured this Thursday that every day they are closer to adding the support of the Canary Islands Coalition to the 171 'yeses' they have for an investiture of the 'popular' leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. At the same time, he has said that they remain open to agreements with the PNV and has shown himself willing to "talk to everyone", but not "at any price".

Bendodo has stated in an interview on RNE, collected by Europa Press, that the support of the Canary Coalition is "predictable", which puts "the traffic light increasingly green" for Feijóo and "more red" for the socialist candidate for re-election Pedro Sanchez.

Regarding the PNV, Bendodo reminded the Basque party that Vox has made it clear that it is going to support Feijóo's investiture "without asking for anything in return." "If someone had any doubt, he can take it away. We do not close the door," Bendodo has sentenced.

This is how he responded when asked if the PP could negotiate with the PNV for the constitution of the Congress Table, which will be next week.

STEP BY STEP

"We are going to work step by step. Right now the votes give us the authority to aspire to preside over the Congress Table and for the King to propose Feijóo as a candidate for the investiture," Bendodo said, to insist on remarking that they already have 171 if it is.

Bendodo, who has stressed that they do not close the door and has asked to negotiate discreetly, has specified that the agreements that the PP can reach with other parties have a limit, which is respect for the Constitution.

He has stressed that the PP has shown the ability to "talk and agree with almost everyone", recalling that after the regional and municipal elections it facilitated the PNV to take over the Guipúzcoa Provincial Council, as well as the PSOE the mayoralties of Barcelona and Vitoria.

Bendodo has indicated that it is in the hands of the PNV and the rest of the parties that there is a "strong" government of the PP and alone, now without Vox, without any party demanding things in return. "Unlike Pedro Sánchez", that he would have to pay his "commitments", he has opposed.

"I insist: a solo government, without any kind of ministers from other parties. That message must get through. We have experience, we know how to negotiate and manage," he stressed.

The general coordinator of the PP has ruled out that they are pressuring Felipe VI to propose Feijóo as a candidate, since they are the party that won the elections, so it would not be "reckless" for that investiture to be reached.

NO CONTACT WITH JUNTS

With regard to Junts, Bendodo explained that "they have not established contacts" with the party of former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont because they themselves have placed themselves "outside the Constitution."

"It is one thing to talk to everyone and another thing to swallow everything," he stressed: and the PP "is not willing." Although he has recognized that he is going to depend on Junts and his attitude "part of the result of the Congress Table and the investiture."

In addition, given the requests of said formation for support for the investiture of the socialist leader, Pedro Sánchez, among which amnesty is included, Bendodo has made ugly that the president of the Government "has shown that he is capable of anything in order to get his objectives and stay in the chair" and believes that it would be crossing another "red line", an "excess" that the Spanish "would not understand.

RESPECT FOR THE DECISIONS OF THE TC

During the interview, he was also asked about the decision of the Holiday Chamber of the Constitutional Court, which has rejected the amparo appeal filed by Puigdemont and the former Catalan councilor Toni Comín against the arrest warrants issued by the Supreme Court on both for crimes of disobedience and embezzlement.

Bendodo has highlighted the importance of the division of powers, since in his opinion "the less the Legislative or Executive Power gets involved in the Judiciary", there is "more democratic quality", he has expressed. And therefore, from the PP they maintain the "maximum respect" for the decisions of the judicial bodies.

And given the statements by the president of Junts, Laura Borràs, in which she criticized that the TC makes this decision "thinking about the investiture", Bendodo has transferred the respect of the PP to judicial decisions and considers that these statements are "opinions". that you can "respect" but "not share".

VOX PROBLEMS

On the departure of Iván Espinosa de los Monteros from Vox and whether these internal problems could affect the regional coalition governments with the PP, Bendodo has stated that it is "hasty" to reach that conclusion, because they are "beginning to walk".

"You have to give them that margin of confidence. They are governments of change and I am convinced that they are going to make society feel better. We will be able to assess it in a while. It is still hasty, it has taken days," he considered.

In addition, it has ruled out any questioning by the PP of the legitimacy of the electoral system. He believes that what there are are "basic rules" in democracy and in "good education" that include congratulations to the winner of an election, for which he has once again reproached Sánchez for not having congratulated Feijóo after having lost "three followed elections", referring to both the regional and municipal elections of 28M as well as the general ones.
