The PP frames Feijóo's meeting with Abascal as "democratic normality" but insists on discretion

MADRID, 1 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo, justified this Tuesday that the meeting that took place last week between the leaders of his party and Vox, Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Santiago Abascal, respectively, is part of "democratic normality".

Vox reported on Monday the meeting in question, which took place in the middle of last week and in which Feijóo and Abascal analyzed the open scenario after the general elections of 23J, the results of which do not allow an absolute majority of the two parties. After this, the PSOE asked the PP to clarify the "details" of the meeting between the two political leaders.

"That after some elections Feijóo has established contacts with different parties, not only with Vox, I think it is within democratic normality," he said during an interview on Telecinco, collected by Europa Press, in which he gave the contacts as an example which have also taken place with the PNV, the Canary Islands Coalition (CC) or the Union of the Navarro People (UPN).

However, he has insisted that the talks in search of support for a possible investiture of the 'popular' leader have to be "discreet" and that once the agreements are reached "they will be made public."

With regard to possible pacts with other formations, during the interview, Bendodo wanted to ratify the words of the general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, and confirmed that possible conversations with Junts "are not on the table."

From the PP they also understand the situation of both the CC and the UPN, because "you have to listen to everyone" and from there is when the support is constituted.

In line with this, he has summoned the socialist leader, Pedro Sánchez, to speak because "it is always good", and he has insisted that the conversation between the two formations with the most seats after the general elections "should be the first conversation".

In Bendodo's opinion, Sánchez's response to Feijóo's letter, in which he declined the request of the 'popular' to meet this week to avoid the "blockade" and "ungovernability" in Spain, is explained because the acting president "refuses to accept the victory" of the PP.

"What I can tell you is that today Sánchez has no more support than Feijóo for the investiture," he said, before stressing that this right "is held by the party that has won the elections."
