The PP has not achieved Vox's support for the spending ceiling proposal this Tuesday, so the processing of the 2024 regional budgets is slowed down while waiting for a negotiation that will lead to support for a new proposal.
In the plenary session of the Parliament this Tuesday, the proposal for a spending ceiling of 6,365.5 million euros for 2024, 7.03% higher (418 million euros more) than the 2023 figure, has 26 yeses and 33 noes between reproaches from the Government and Vox for non-compliance with the investiture agreement.
At the beginning of the debate, Vox deputy Patricia de las Heras had already announced that her group would vote "accordingly" after warning that the spending limit proposal violates stability rules. De las Heras has criticized the "desperate mood" of the PP for approving the spending ceiling based on non-compliance with the stability rule.
Although the deputy has not made explicit reference to this issue until her last counter-reply, Vox's refusal to support the spending ceiling has been preceded by the PP's abstention from its initiative on free choice of language, which has prevented it from being approved and which has led to successive reproaches.
In his speech, the spokesperson for the PSIB, Iago Negueruela, referred to this controversy, pointing out that the Minister of Economy, Finance and Innovation, Antoni Costa, began his speech by "abusing" the Vox deputies, asking them for stability. "Abrogating those who have to offer their support does not usually end well," Negueruela predicted.
PSIB and MÉS for Mallorca have offered to the Government to start a negotiation of the autonomous accounts.
Costa has accused Vox of failing to comply with the investiture agreement, while De las Heras has recalled that the ceiling was not discussed in the agreement, but the freedom of choice of language was.
