The militancy of EH Bildu endorses the abstention to facilitate the investiture of María Chivite (PSOE) in Navarra

PAMPLONA, 10 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) - The militancy of EH Bildu has endorsed that the parliamentarians of the abertzale formation abstain to facilitate the investiture of the socialist María Chivite as president of the Government of Navarra.

Specifically, in the consultation carried out this Wednesday by EH Bildu to its militancy in Navarra, 82.7% have supported the position of abstention raised by the leadership of the abertzale formation, compared to 12.7%. 4.6% have been blank votes. 61.2% of the members of Navarra have participated in the consultation.

"A vast majority of the bilkides endorse the political reading of the EH Bildu Nafarroa Board for which it is proposed to facilitate the investiture of Chivite through abstention. Many thanks to the hundreds of bilkides who have participated in the consultation", has pointed out EH Bildu in a message on Twitter.

Last Tuesday, PSN, Geroa Bai and Contigo-Zurekin signed their agreement for the formation of the Government in Navarra. However, the three groups account for 21 of the 50 seats in the Provincial Parliament, so the abstention of EH Bildu is necessary for the investiture to go ahead.

In this context, the abertzale formation called for a consultation with its militancy in Navarra, asking whether it endorsed the abstention of its parliamentarians to facilitate the investiture of María Chivite.

The reading of the Political Table of EH Bildu in Navarra indicated that "we find ourselves in a complex context, in a time that transits between the old policy of the regime that is running out and a new stage that advances without exclusions and without complexes". "It is time to deepen the line that we are developing and the first stop for this will be the investiture. An essential stop that should offer us the possibility of moving forward," he indicated. Finally, the militancy of the abertzale formation endorses this position.

That same Wednesday, the day of the consultation, representatives of PSN, Geroa Bai and Contigo-Zurekin met with members of EH Bildu to present their programmatic agreement.

EH Bildu considers that "giving way through abstention to the next inauguration of Chivite is a starting point to continue advancing in Nafarroa." "This new legislature we are going to be even more demanding in the strengthening of public services, expansion of rights and advances in the self-government of Nafarroa, because EH Bildu is the guarantee that progressive policies are carried out in Navarra that protect the majorities and defend their interests", he defended in a press release.
