The mayor of Zuera, Luis Zubieta, dies after being run over while riding a bicycle on the N-330

ZARAGOZA, 1 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The mayor of Zuera and president of the Aragonese Federation of Municipalities, Counties and Provinces (FAMCP), Luis Zubieta, died this Saturday after being run over by a van while riding a bicycle on the N-330, in the municipality of Gurrea de Gállego, in the province of Huesca.

The event took place around 11:25 a.m. this Saturday, at kilometer point 541,500 of the N-330, as reported by the Civil Guard. The victim was accompanied by two other cyclists, who were unharmed.

The corpse has been transferred by funeral services to the Provincial Hospital of Huesca. The causes of the incident are still being investigated by the Huesca Civil Guard Reporting Team.

A Citizen Security patrol from the Ayerbe Post, a patrol from the Huesca Traffic Detachment, the Huesca Traffic Subsector Reporting Team, as well as health services and road maintenance personnel have intervened. Also the commander of the Benemérita de Zuera Post.

Luis Zubieta, 57, had been re-elected mayor of the Zaragoza municipality last June by the Socialist Party.
