The judge searches for and captures the Frenchman of Tunisian origin suspected of the attack on Vidal-Quadras

MADRID, 28 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The judge of the National Court Francisco de Jorge has ordered the search and capture of the French citizen of Tunisian origin suspected of having been the material author of the alleged attempted "terrorist murder" of former politician Alejo Vidal-Quadras, who was shot in the face in the middle of a Madrid street, as confirmed by legal sources to Europa Press.

This is the man who covered his face with a helmet and visor, making his identification difficult. The shooter approached Vidal-Quadras on foot, whom he shot once in the face, and then fled the scene helped by a second person who was waiting for him on a motorcycle.

The sources consulted recall that the judge's decision comes after last Friday he agreed to the unconditional imprisonment of one of those detained for the alleged attempted "terrorist murder" of Vidal-Quadras.

Within the framework of the investigation, that Friday the head of the Central Court of Instruction Number 1 also agreed to release another detainee and his partner with precautionary measures. The same sources have explained that the latter and his wife were released with the obligation to appear in the nearest court on the 1st and 15th of each month. In addition, the judge considered it pertinent to withdraw his passport and prohibit him from leaving the national territory.

The former politician was discharged from the hospital last Thursday, two weeks after undergoing surgery for the gunshot that caused injuries to his jaw, according to the Gregorio Marañón General University Hospital.

The hospital reported the discharge of the 78-year-old former politician from the hospital ward. On November 21, he assured that Vidal-Quadras was progressing favorably after the double jaw fracture caused by the shot he received on Núñez de Balboa Street in the capital.

The National Court took charge of the investigation since it could be a possible terrorist attack. Vidal-Quadras himself, once stabilized in the hospital, indicated that the attack could be linked to his relations with the Iranian opposition and the sources consulted by Europa Press confirmed that they were working with that hypothesis.
