The Minister of Defense of Ecuador, Gian Carlo Loffredo, condemned this Wednesday the murder of prosecutor César Suárez, who was in charge of an investigation into the armed assault on the facilities of the Ecuadorian channel TC Televisión, and has rejected "all forms of violence ".

"On behalf of the National Government, we want to express our condolences to the family of prosecutor César Suárez, the Prosecutor's Office and the Judicial Branch, in general. We reject all forms of violence as a response to the conflict we are experiencing," he expressed through a video in the who appears alongside the Minister of Government, Mónica Palencia.

Loffredo has ratified "the strong commitment" of the Government "in supporting" the bodies of the country's Administration of Justice: "We Ecuadorians are together and united in a single force, in a single Ecuador," he concluded.

Hours earlier, the Ecuadorian Prosecutor's Office confirmed the murder of Suárez during a shootout while he was driving his vehicle in the city of Guayaquil carried out by members of an armed group, announcing that the first proceedings have been launched "with the objective of guarantee" that the "crime does not go unpunished.

"Organized crime groups, criminals, terrorists, will not stop our commitment to Ecuadorian society. We will continue with more strength and commitment," stated the Attorney General, Diana Salazar, in a recorded message published on the social network formerly Twitter.

In this sense, he has called on law enforcement forces to guarantee the safety of prosecutors after "this atrocious event" and has asked the judiciary to authorize the hearings to be held "online."

A group of hooded armed men attacked the Ecuadorian channel TC Televisión last Tuesday in the midst of a wave of violence unleashed throughout the country that forced the president, Daniel Noboa, to declare the existence of an "internal armed conflict" in the country and to deploy to the Armed Forces after declaring a state of emergency.
