The Government is studying a "reorganization" of the Civil Guard thanks to new technologies and more modern vehicles

MADRID, 14 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government has admitted that it is studying "carrying out a reorganization" of the Civil Guard to improve the provision of citizen security services and "adapt it to the new demands of citizens", taking into account the opportunities offered by the new technologies or the use of more modern vehicles.

In a parliamentary response dated March 22, consulted by Europa Press, the Executive indicates that the changes undertaken will be carried out "maintaining the territorial structure of the State" with regard to the demarcations of "low population density." where the Civil Guard provides service and "prioritizing" public safety over administrative tasks "that can be handled by other means."

That said, the Government admits that "a reorganization of Citizen Security units is being studied" and that "work is being done to adapt it to the new demands of citizens, taking advantage of the opportunities provided by new technologies in all areas".

Among these opportunities he cites electronic administrative management, the use of telematic tools for relations with citizens or "more and better technological means for the coordination of the different units to cover the territory", as well as "more new vehicles that allow increasing the deterrent police presence and response times when crimes are committed."

In response to the PP, the Government recalls that the Directorate of the Civil Guard "permanently analyzes the deployment in order to adapt it to the effective fulfillment of its missions in the best possible conditions."

For this reason, he points out that said deployment and its structure or resources "cannot be subject to a single reference, the result of a simple numerical calculation", since they take into account coverage in large rural areas with differences depending on factors such as orography, road network or the average response times used in trips to the furthest points of each demarcation.
