The ETA member Ainhoa Barbarin, sentenced to 208 years for the attack in Salou, will return to prison after the Prosecutor's appeal

MADRID, 4 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The former member of ETA Ainhoa Barbarin, sentenced to 208 years in prison for placing a car bomb in the town of Salou in Tarragona whose explosion in August 2001 caused 18 injuries, has returned to prison after the Prosecutor's Office has appealed its progression to third grade.

This has been confirmed by the support network for ETA Sare prisoners through its website, in which they explain that Barbarin has been re-admitted to prison in application of the doctrine of the Supreme Court, which establishes that the appeal of the Prosecutor's Office will paralyze the release of the inmate "in the case of serious crimes".

"Once again, the State Prosecutor's Office has opposed the decision of the Penitentiary Treatment Boards, which have the responsibility and information necessary for this, hindering the prison journey and the way home that the prisoners must develop," they have denounced. from Sare.

The support network for the prisoners of the terrorist group has explained that this is the second time that Barbarin's progression to third grade has been suspended. Specifically, it was last February when the National Court revoked the decision granted by the Basque Government.

In this line, they have publicly shown their "discomfort" since, in their opinion, "they continue to hinder the way back home started a long time ago by the prisoners." "Going home is a democratic requirement that cannot be constantly boycotted by exceptional courts," they added.

It was at the end of 2009 when the AN found Barbarin and two other ETA members guilty of committing a crime of havoc for terrorist purposes, three crimes of aggravated injuries, 15 crimes of injuries, robbery and document falsification for the attack in Salou.

It should be remembered that, in addition to the aforementioned attack, the court already sentenced the former ETA member to 14 years in prison in 2007 for planting a car bomb at Malaga airport.
