The death toll from the attack carried out on Thursday by the Russian Army against the Ukrainian city of Lviv, located in the west of the country -- near the border with Poland -- has risen to ten, including three children, as confirmed by the Ukrainian authorities.

The mayor of the city, Andriy Sadovi, has indicated in his Telegram account that in the last hours the body of a woman has been located among the rubble of the residential building hit in the attack, which has also left at least 42 injured.

After this information, the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelensky, published a video of the attack in which "the consequences of the night attack by Russian terrorists" are seen. "Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded (...) There will definitely be a response to the enemy. A forceful one," he said.

Likewise, the United Nations humanitarian coordinator for Ukraine, Denise Brown, condemned the attack and stressed that "Humanitarian Law is clear: civilians and civilian infrastructure must be protected," according to a statement published by her office.

The condemnations were joined by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which stressed that the attack had caused damage to a "historic building" in the city and warned that it was also a violation of the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the event of Armed Conflict.

For its part, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday it had carried out "concentrated bombardment" against "temporary deployment points" of the Ukrainian military and "foreign mercenaries" in Lviv, adding that the targets attacked included "places of storage of western-made armored vehicles". "All designated targets have been hit," he settled.
